Mason Dixon opens tonight at PUNCH Gallery. Going back 150 years to explore the Civil War and how it relates to the current divisiveness in American culture, my latest exhibition uses video, sound, painting and photography to explore and understand both sides of America from 1861 to 1865, and the role I may have played during the bloodiest period of American history.

While the show is up, I'll be doing a month-long residency at 3rd Ward, during which I'll be drinking lots of cold Busch beer (or similar) and seeing how many words New Yorkers know for "hillbilly."

This month, come and check out my installation at PUNCH in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle. Continuing with my ongoing
investigation into the dichotomy between urban and rural cultures
and stereotypes, Homestead,
explores the banality of daily life and the contrast of private space
and public experience. Through the use of sound, video projection
and found materials, I created a rural homestead where time, place
and identity are ambiguous and fluid – a self-portrait and voyeuristic
opportunity to ponder the question, “are the private lives of
others really so interesting?” Oh, and there'll be plenty of
cold Busch beer and bologna sandwiches at the opening.
